High Street
The Brief:
A couple in their 30s asked Apartmentary to remodel their Sai Ying Pun apartment, seeking more usable space as they prepare for a future family. They live with three cats adopted from a nearby agency, and the owner wanted to keep and display meaningful items from her childhood.
The original layout wasted circulation space and felt inefficient. We reworked the floor plan to improve flow and make every square foot count, while designing custom bookshelves that house both their book collection and the personal objects the owner wished to preserve.
The result is a calm, pet-friendly home that feels open, practical, and ready to grow with them.

Project Overview

Our client approached Apartmentary to fully remodel their Sai Ying Pun walk-up apartment after moving in just before their wedding. With previous renovation experience helping her family and furnishing rental homes, and her partner originally from Bosnia, they wanted a space that felt truly their own.
They sought better flow for entertaining, generous storage for childhood books and family furniture, dedicated zones for everyday life, and a refined material palette. Working closely with the team, they completely reconfigured the inefficient original layout—opening the kitchen as the heart of the home, extending the living area, adding a second bathroom, and clarifying private rooms—while Design Manager Joane carefully incorporated their unique tile selections throughout the apartment.

Entryway/Foyer
The original entryway contained a large amount of wasted space that disrupted the overall flow. We streamlined the entrance, improving circulation and creating a cleaner first impression that immediately connects to the social areas beyond.
Social Spaces
To support the couple’s love of hosting, the original closed kitchen was removed and the living room extended into that footprint, while the kitchen was relocated to the former living area. An open kitchen with island became the focal point, designed for daily cooking and easy conversation with guests. The reconfigured social zone now feels generous, practical, and ready for both quiet evenings and larger gatherings.

Private Quarters
Storage was a priority. An existing storage room was simplified by adding a wall, creating a distinct guest bedroom and a separate helper’s room. Custom wardrobes give each of them dedicated space, while built-in bookshelves house our client's collection of childhood books and allow meaningful family furniture pieces to be preserved and integrated. Our client's media and gaming equipment is neatly concealed so the rooms remain calm and uncluttered.
Bathrooms
A second bathroom was added in the former kitchen zone, giving the apartment both an ensuite and a guest bathroom. Unique tile selections chosen by the clients were thoughtfully placed by the design manager across both bathrooms and complementary surfaces throughout the home, creating a cohesive and distinctive material language.
