Headland Village

The Brief:

Our client, a young family of three with plans for future growth, was already well-acquainted with the quiet charm of Discovery Bay. Having outgrown their previous home in Caperidge, they sought a more spacious environment at Headland Village that could better support their evolving lifestyle. Their vision for the property at Headland Drive was clear and deeply personal: they wanted a space that felt unmistakably like a home rather than a hotel—simple, warm, and genuinely comfortable for daily family life.

With both parents working from home, a young daughter, and two dogs, who loves to run and play, the priorities were practical yet heartfelt. They needed distinct zones for focused work, generous room for their kid and dogs to move freely, and thoughtful planning for a growing household. The goal was a calm, lived-in home with sleek custom storage, cohesive tones, and an easy flow that supports real life—work, play, rest, and connection.

Project Overview

Jump To:

Located at Headland Drive in Headland Village, this expansive 2,200 sq. ft. detached house offers a generous layout spread across two floors and two attic levels. The comprehensive remodel transformed the structure into a functional family sanctuary featuring a private gate entry and a welcoming front yard.

Inside, the home now boasts a cohesive, natural flow between the living room, kitchen, and dining areas, complemented by three dedicated bedrooms, two separate study rooms for peaceful remote work, and specialized attic spaces. Custom millwork throughout—including sleek built-in shelving, wardrobes, and entrance storage—brings warmth and quiet organization without clutter.

The design thoughtfully balances the family’s immediate needs with flexibility for the future, creating a home that feels both spacious and intimately livable.

Entryway/Foyer

A refined transition point marked by a private gate entry. The welcoming foyer sets the tone with custom storage cabinets and a striking wooden sideboard featuring colorful drawer fronts. These pieces provide generous, everyday storage while introducing a warm, collected character that feels instantly personal rather than formal. Natural light and clean lines guide you deeper into the home, creating a calm arrival that reflects the family’s desire for simplicity and order.

Social Spaces

A spacious living room and an integrated dining room and kitchen designed for genuine family interaction. The living area centers around custom light-oak built-in shelving that elegantly houses audio equipment, books, and personal objects—proof that thoughtful millwork can be both beautiful and practical. Generous seating, layered textures, and a large textured rug define relaxed zones for conversation, play, and everyday lounging.

The dining space flows naturally from the kitchen and incorporates clever under-stair storage filled with children’s books and toys, turning circulation into a playful, functional moment. Large windows and soft natural light keep the entire social core bright and connected to the outdoors, perfect for family meals, Emma’s playtime, and casual entertaining.

Private Quarters

Three bedrooms, including a serene master suite and two rooms dedicated to the children, supported by well-considered bathrooms. The master bedroom offers a tranquil retreat beneath a dramatic sloped dark-wood ceiling. Soft neutral tones, plush layered bedding in warm blush and cream, wall-mounted sconces, and expansive custom wardrobes create a calm, cocoon-like atmosphere.

The daughter's room features a charming grey toddler bed, a playful round pom-pom rug, and a sunny window seat/desk nook with wooden accent paneling—thoughtful details that support both rest and creative play. An additional upstairs room has been planned and prepared for future family growth, ensuring the home can evolve gracefully alongside the family.

Work & Leisure

A quiet study room for focused tasks and a unique attic level specifically tailored to the client’s hobbies and downtime. Separate studies provide each parent with a peaceful, dedicated workspace—directly solving the overlapping-meeting challenges of their previous home. One study combines ergonomic comfort with display shelving and personal collections, while natural light and clean lines keep it productive and inspiring.

The attic “man cave” delivers a more immersive experience: a dark, cocooning space with a large screen, media console, comfortable seating, and room for collectibles and gaming. Far from an afterthought, it was a deliberate, practical choice over a walk-in closet—chosen so the family can enjoy it together now and for years to come. Their kid loves joining in with her own little game console, turning the space into a place of shared joy rather than solitary escape.
